Adventure Tour Packages for Shoghi Himachal Pradesh – Aamod Resort
Crisp cold air greeted us at Kalka, upon getting out of the conditioned air of the Kalka Shatabdi. We were keen to find out about the Toy train that apparently takes people all the way to Shimla via a very picturesque route, one that is supposed to be a photographer’s delight. However, our driver had already called us several times, more out of sheer hospitality, so we do not waver away. It was quite nice of him to keep in touch from Chandigarh onwards, so we knew our next few hours had been chalked out.
We had setout from Delhi in the morning, our destination was the Aamod Resort in Shoghi. Shoghi is a dainty little village close to Shimla, the resort in a very offbeat location. The drive from Kalka to Shoghi was unadventurous. Passing pretty small towns, watching local produce, the apple season being in peak there was a lot to soothe our eyes. The drive was quick, safe and brought us to the resort bang during the lunch hour. Curiosity about the resort peaks when you get off in the parking at the entrance and you get into another car. The second car ride was a quick one, very meaningful and gives out the first flavour of Aamod at Shoghi. The path is “kuccha” taken the beating with rain and yet not washed away. You can choose to walk the way however it is not advisable to do so uphill, especially if you are hungry. As you alight from the car, the aromatic fragrances of the local spices and delicious food greet you with open arms. There is no way you could cross that or walk away without sitting down for your dining experience. Ours was very pleasant. We ordered an obscure menu item, Thai cuisine, something even best of the chefs or restaurants in Gurgaon go wrong on. We were terribly hungry and the dining experience was good, but crisp. Towed by the Resort manager we trudged along the path (all natural still) to the reception. Completing the formalities was just that, a formality. It gave us some good time to let it soak in. One suddenly realizes the silence around you. Okay, so not really silent. The place is never quiet. Alive with all that lives in the trees and the leaves, the noises of nature are plenty and abundant for you to realize, this place is in a different zone altogether. We move on to freshen up and unwind. We are always so strung up for everything, it takes a couple hours to realize, Aamod helps you let go of the mental baggage. You begin to connect with nature as you walk around the resort. You notice the several shades of greens as you pick up your camera and wander around trying to find the corner where you can plonk your tripod and spend hours trying to capture all the elements in Aamod, Shoghi.
Evenings can be quiet or full of activity as you take charge of your time again. You could spend time, again, just by being, to connect to self or you create and experience activities as a group. There are trained instructors who will assist you in any adventurous activity. There are walks all fitting your interest and health levels. There is a spa, located at an outstanding location. It is a long walk, but worth every second of it. Or just pick up a book from the Reading room and let the quietude flow in. If you are a writer looking for a place to complete your book, this is it! I cannot recommend a better place where all the outside factors come together to create the right drive for you to finish your work. There is Wifi – you can remain connected for as long as you want, just as much as you want. Not all service providers are great at providing networks there, so if you do not intend to totally break off from civilization, it is wise to confirm prior to the trip about your service provider.
But it is best if you ration your use of all or any Internet Connectivity because that is when the place grows on you. Also for you to completely enjoy the flavor of the place, it is vital to enjoying the local cuisines on the menu. Or experiment. For more keen connoisseurs, you could take a stab at learning some local dishes, with the help of the Resort Manager, he is an experienced Chef himself!
All in all, a wholesome detox unwinds, unplug, and rejuvenating experience.
